From the 26th to the 28th of February, the grade 6 and 7 prefects attended an exciting leadership camp at the Blyde Adventure camp. The camp was organised to help us develop important leadership skills such as teamwork, responsibility and communication. It was also a great opportunity for us to get to know each other better and learn how to work together.
During the camp, we took part in many fun and challenging activities. Some activities tested our ability to work together, like when we lost our sight and had to use each other’s instructions to make it out safely. While others helped us learn how to solve problems and support one another, like in the cooking activity, we were separated into three groups. We had to help each other cook our dinner, work with the wood for the fire, and cut both hard and soft vegetables. These activities showed us that leadership is not only about giving instructions, but also about listening, encouraging others and working together to achieve a goal.
The best activity for me was game night because we could laugh and play together. Overall, we loved this camp because it was new, had good vibes, and we would love to come back.
