Intermediate Phase Faithful Steward Award Ceremony 2025

Intermediate Phase Faithful Steward Award Ceremony 2025

If you have ever heard of “ Love is in the air “, well this past Friday it was certainly “Excitement is in the air” as the Award Ceremony took centre stage to honour and celebrate the young minds of the Intermediate Phase of Eagles Nest Christian School. Pride and inspiration beamed all over as learners from Grades 4 to 7 were gathering for the acknowledgment of their achievements — both in and beyond the classroom.

The chilly morning started off the scenes but even the low temperatures couldn’t deter the joy and buzzling sounds of kids greeting their friends and fellow classmates. New hairstyles being checked out with oh’s and aw’s adorning each head. Peeping eyes out of each classroom door and window to see if Mommy and Daddy had arrived. And surely they did not disappoint. Parents began flooding in and filled the hall with loud and warm pleasantries being exchanged, familiar faces from years past, even former learners now in high school returned to witness the special occasion. The highlight of their visit was a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring the school’s new Highschool Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy. Their confidence and honesty as they tackled personal and probing questions grabbed the younger learners hearts and left parents with nodding heads beaming with smiles that were nothing short of proud, showing them that leadership is not just a title, but a journey of growth and responsibility.

The event was beautifully woven together with artistic and spiritual performances — from heartfelt poems and energetic dances to moving worship dances that brought the audience to quiet reflection. The phase’s school choir, led by Ma’am Kwena and Ma’am Jeaneth , lifted the atmosphere even higher with harmonious songs in local languages winning the crowd even more so.

A defining moment came during the inauguration of the new leaders, Head Boy Innocent Sigauke and Head Girl Masana Machimana, alongside their deputies and the prefect team. As each leader took the solemn pledge, their parents joined them on stage to proudly pin their prefect badges a gesture that symbolized hope, a little flicker that resonated the biggest truth to the young ones as tears streamed down their faces as their names were called out , a truth that said one thing – recognition – a sweet aroma to one’s soul.

The ceremony also shone a light on top achievers and all-rounders, including a scholarship presentation to the newly inaugurated head leaders as they were top performers of their class. Learners excelling in athletics, gymnastics, chess, spelling bee, IBT’s, netball and soccer were applauded for their dedication and extraordinary talent — some even representing in provincial and national leagues, and catching the attention of major teams like Mamelodi Sundowns and TUKS, and being snatched up to join the junior leagues. And as the HOD of the phase Sir Willie Swanepoel noted, that it’s so sad to watch these incredible, little eagles leave the nest but it’s absolutely rewarding to have watched them find their own wings right here at home.

Despite the cloudy, chilly weather, the atmosphere was warm with joy, ululations and high five’s echoing throughout the hall. The morning rolled out with some hot coffee and yummy muffins, followed later by some pizza and coke, and that gave everyone fuel to carry on and applaud some more as Christian Characteristics were being appreciated as well as High Merits Track Records.

It was a day to remember — one that celebrated not only academic and extracurricular excellence, but also the unity, faith, and perseverance that make this school’s community truly shine. Proverbs 13:4 was put on physical display: “The lazy man craves and gets nothing, but it is the desires of the diligent that are fully satisfied”. And who wouldn’t be happy, after being so hard working in being decorated in front of mommy, daddy, granny, aunty, uncle, best friends, classmates, favourite teachers and most importantly, the Almighty God, who reminds us that it is in Him our pride should be. That all we have is from Him and to Him. The One whom we all strive to hear one day say to us – Well done My good and Faithful Steward!
